The Association provides multiple membership tiers designed to support professionals at every stage of their career in literacy and reading therapy. This structure promotes lifelong learning, offers a clear pathway for professional growth, upholds rigorous practice standards, and fosters an inclusive community for all members.
Membership in the Association is conferred on the basis of individual merit, recognising the professional qualifications, expertise, and demonstrated commitment of practitioners in the field of literacy and reading therapy. This merit-based approach ensures that membership reflects verified competence and adherence to high standards of professional practice. Individuals who hold a recognised qualification as a Reading Therapist from esteemed professional organisations including the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT) are eligible for full membership of the Association.
A Board-certified Reading Therapist of the IACT having met the full qualifications and practicum requirements, qualifies as a Fellow Member of the Association.
A Registerd Reading Therapist of the IACT having met the full qualifications and practicum requirements, qualifies as a Registered Member of the Association.
A Credentialed Reading Therapist of the IACT having met the full training requirements, qualifies as an Associate Member of the Association.
A Certified Reading Therapist who has not yet attained the Associate Membership, is eligible to join the Association as an Affiliate Member.
Applicants currently pursuing their certification through the IACT Reading Therapist Programme are invited to join the Association as a Student Member.
Membership fees are assessed on a calendar-year basis, commencing 1 January and concluding 31 December of each year. Admission fees are calculated on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the annual membership fee and are assessed on a half-yearly basis. All admission fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Applications for membership submitted at any time during the calendar year shall be subject only to the applicable admission fee as set out in the Admission Fee Schedule. Upon admission to the Association, members shall be required to remit the full annual membership fee upon renewal in the subsequent calendar year, irrespective of the date of admission in the preceding year.
